Phishing volume is climbing and wire transfer fraud is getting expensive

APWG report
APWG counted 425,808 phishing attacks in June 2026, the highest monthly total since April 2023, with attacks up 10.1 percent quarter over quarter. SaaS and webmail accounted for 29.1 percent of attacks. Smishing rose 40 percent from Q1 to Q2 2026. Fortra found wire transfer BEC attacks up 88 percent, with the average amount requested at $61,732, a 45 percent increase.

The Adaptive Take
The report counts attacks. What it does not say is that these land in a mailbox no tool flags, because a request to change bank details carries no link and no malware. The control is process: verify any payment or payroll change by calling a number you already had, not one printed in the email. Then make sure someone is watching when a new mailbox rule appears overnight. Adaptive's SOC covers endpoint and network telemetry with AI-triaged alerts and expert response.

Most display budgets are spent without anyone measuring the return

FROM THE PRESS • Fieldpie
Promotional Display ROI: How To Measure Results
Fieldpie argues that effective promotional displays can lift in-store sales by up to 20 percent, but most brands never measure whether the spend pays off. The fix is a pre-display baseline: without one, incremental revenue is a guess. The article also notes that up to 50 percent of displays are never set up correctly, and that brands using structured measurement frameworks see marketing ROI improve by an average of 28 percent within one year.

The Adaptive Take
A screen makes the baseline problem easier than a cardboard endcap does, because you control the schedule. Pick one item, run the promotion on screen for two weeks, then run two weeks without it and compare the same SKU. The part that gets skipped is deciding before install what the screen is supposed to change. If nobody names the item and the hour, the screen becomes wallpaper and the spend never gets judged. Adaptive Digital Signs runs from Starter through Gold, with Bronze adding the content marketplace and Silver for governed content at scale.

SMALL BUSINESS IT
Repatriation is a workload by workload decision, not a cloud reversal

Cloud Repatriation in 2026: When Moving Off Pays Off
Dev reports that a Barclays survey found 83 percent of enterprises plan to repatriate at least some workloads from public cloud to private infrastructure. Organizations that move the right workloads commonly report 30 to 60 percent lower infrastructure spend for those workloads. The candidates are steady-state compute, large datasets with heavy egress, and data with residency requirements. Spiky traffic and early-stage products stay in the cloud, and the comparison has to price the people who run the hardware.

The Adaptive Take
The comparison the article describes leaves out the move itself. Getting the data out of a hyperscaler is billed as egress, so repatriation has a one-time price before the savings start. And the data you bring back needs somewhere to live plus a backup copy, so you end up sizing storage twice. Adaptive Compression is a one-time project: we assess your data, implement dedup and compression on the hardware you already own, and hand it over, so you reclaim space and defer the next storage purchase. Adaptive Reservoir is the same idea for AI, on-prem or in the cloud, with your data under your control.
